You may not have to liquidate your public investment holdings or “time the market” to fund your account, you can simply transfer eligible publicly traded securities “in-kind”.

I have established an Equity Trust account, how do I get started trading with ETC Brokerage?

ETC Brokerage Services offers stock, bond, and mutual fund trading to Equity Trust Company clients through an ETC Brokerage account. The process to get started is simple. Once you have opened an Equity Trust Company account you can then establish an ETC Brokerage account. When funds are available within your Equity Trust Company account you can then place trades (either online or by contacting an ETC Brokerage representative) that will be held within your ETC Brokerage account. The movement of funds from your Equity Trust Company account to your ETC Brokerage account to place trades is seamless and does not require any advanced notice prior to placing the trades.  The total value of your brokerage account assets will be reflected within your Equity Trust Company account holdings. Individual brokerage asset holdings can be viewed through your ETC Brokerage online account login.

When can I begin trading?
Once you receive confirmation that your account has been opened, you can begin trading!
How long will I wait to have an account once submitting the Account Application and/or Option Agreement?
Accounts are opened within 2-3 business days of receipt.
How do I fund my ETC Brokerage account?
Accounts are funded by the customer account at Equity Trust Company.  Funds are transferred from Equity Trust Company into ETC Brokerage Services via ACH one business day after investment purchase.  Sale proceeds are swept from ETC Brokerage Services into Equity Trust one business day after settlement date.
What is an "in-kind" transfer?
When eligible publicly traded securities are transferred “in-kind,” you simply move your investments to us “as is.” You may not have to liquidate your public investment holdings to fund your Equity Trust Company account. There’s no selling or buying involved and no tax consequences either. Equity Trust Company receives your investments at the market value on the date of the transfer. ETC Brokerage Services, Equity Trust Company’s affiliate broker, provides you with the convenience of holding your publicly traded assets as well as facilitating trades for stock, bond, mutual fund and option trading, through an ETC Brokerage trading account. ETC Brokerage accounts are held as a position within an Equity Trust Company self-directed account and offers convenient and seamless movement of funds between trust and brokerage accounts so you can easily invest in traditional and alternative assets.
How do I transfer assets in-kind to an ETC Brokerage account?
The process to transfer a publicly traded asset in-kind can be accomplished quickly and easily. First, open an Equity Trust Company account. Once your Equity Trust Company account is established, you can also open an ETC Brokerage trading account. To request your public investments to be transferred in-kind to your ETC Brokerage account, complete the Equity Trust Transfer Form and list the positions you wish to transfer and select that you would like to transfer those positions in-kind. Once Equity Trust Company receives your transfer form, ETC Brokerage will request the assets to be electronically transferred to your ETC Brokerage account. The total value of your brokerage account assets will be reflected within your Equity Trust Company account holdings. Individual brokerage asset holdings can be viewed through your ETC Brokerage online account login.
